Karl Plunkett goes by many titles. A Developer, who established a successful building company, WABi Constructions Pty Ltd, in 1996. An Owner, specifically of Eco Beach Resort in Broome where he first commenced working on the prototype eco tents, eco modules, and gazebos that have now become Eco Structures Australia’s core products. But above all, he is a Discoverer.
When others ask, “Are we there yet?”, Karl asks “Where to next?”. With a motto of building for the future, Karl draws on more than 25 years of building and construction experience, coupled with a proven ability to complete projects on time and within budget. He understands the unique challenges of tourism developers looking for cost-effective solutions based on environmentally sustainable principles.
For Karl, designing eco tents is about seeing the world through the eyes of his clients in order to expose travellers to new experiences, teach life lessons, switch off, disconnect, and reconnect with nature. It’s all about reciprocal trust – by making people available, standing by his product and doing the right thing first time, Karl creates platforms to create powerful experiences that burn into traveller memories.
Tom embarked on his managerial adventure with Eco Structures Australia in 2012, at a time when the glamping trend was growing rapidly around the world.
Driving product and concept, Tom has since completed over 60 projects across Australia, as well as over 25 international locations such as the US Virgin Islands, Saudi Arabia and China, along with several A Class World Reserves. Tom leverages his experience in the tourism accommodation industry to provide feasible, sustainable, and innovative solutions for clients who want to create memorable and eco-friendly glamping experiences.
Tiki’s experience in the industry has been shaped by her work with Eco Structures and the WABi Group, where she has developed strong brand identities. Her ability to think outside the box and create innovative solutions has been instrumental in establishing WABi Systems as a market leader in efficient building systems. Watching these systems grow and fulfill a large gap in the market has been an exciting journey for Tiki.
Lucy is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Eco Structures. She manages various aspects of the business to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. Lucy handles tasks such as resource allocation, process optimization, quality control, and personnel management.
Nick leads our R&D (Research and Development) and is responsible for supporting research and guiding engineers in various experiments, investigations, new products, processes and technologies. Nick is crucial for the success our company’s quality assurance, accreditations, ongoing innovation and sustainability.
Renan is the team leader for structural drafting and construction documentation at Eco Structures. He has extensive involvement in the engineering, manufacturing and fabrication of all Eco Structures construction components. Renan allow our systems to be prefabricated accurately, produce zero waste and permit rapid and effortless construction.
Madison is our creative eye when it comes to all things design and architecture. Madison is primarily a designer of experiences, she thrives when engaging in small footprint, environmentally friendly and wellbeing-driven design. Her passion for design is reflected in her conceptualisation of projects from the initial design brief, 3D renders, through to the final design and construct drawings.
Wing handles all development approvals, master plans, and liaises with council planning for the projects. His focus is on creating sustainable architecture that minimizes environmental impact. His approach emphasises functionality and client collaboration to exceed project expectations within budget constraints.
David leads our procurement management, he estimates every project, exercises tight quality control, and streamlines the installation process. David is responsible for assessing suppliers, services and ensuring our products are high quality investments for our clients.
Cristian crafts precision-targeted digital strategies using dashboards, SEO’s and marketing and sales performance metrics. With expertise in AB testing, web maintenance, and social media management, Cristian ensures our brand shines consistently across all channels, captivating audiences and achieving our business objectives.
Kate is the guiding force behind our commitment to customer satisfaction. As our Customer Success Manager, Kate ensures that each and every client feels valued and supported throughout their journey with our company. Her passion for building strong, lasting relationships with our customers makes her an invaluable asset to our team.
Justin’s role primarily centers on overseeing Eco Structures’ sales operations in the US, with additional responsibilities for managing sales and projects in Australia. His strategic focus is crucial in expanding Eco Structures’ adoption within the resort and holiday park sectors. Justin brings firsthand knowledge of constructing eco tents, gained from his previous experience installing tents on numerous projects in both the US and Australia. This experience enhances his ability to capitalize on opportunities and ensure successful project outcomes.
Lesley has worked with Eco Structures since the beggiining and is responsible for our accounting, reporting, budgeting and day to day processes. She has a thorough understanding of the economics of running a successful business and is surrounded by a strong, supportive team of long-standing colleagues.
April is a key member of our Accounts & Administration team, where she expertly handles all of our financial matters. With her friendly and approachable demeanor, April is always making the office a brighter and positive space. Her unparalleled attention to detail and excellent organizational skills ensure that our company’s financial records are accurate and up-to-date at all times.
Michelle is our versatile and experienced internal accountant. With years of expertise in managing finances, she is a valuable asset to our team. Michelle is not only responsible for handling our accounts and ensuring that everything is up-to-date, but she also goes the extra mile by looking after our staff contracts/ on-boarding, ABNs and trademarks.
Brook has been a loyal member of our team since the early days and has contributed to the growth of our company in many ways. With her attention to detail and strong organizational skills, Brook now oversees the critical aspects of our operations. She takes care of packing details, manages freight and shipping, and ensures manufacturing deadlines are met. We can always count on Brook to ensure our orders are fulfilled on time, with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency.
Mike plays a vital role in ensuring that materials are organized, accessible, and ready for use, contributing to the smooth operation of projects and the overall success of the business. Mike keeps track of materials, equipment, or products stored in the yard or on-site location. This involves receiving shipments, inspecting goods for quality, and organizing inventory efficiently.
Tim’s role focuses on overseeing the sales and business development efforts of Eco Structures. Overall, his role is crucial in expanding the adoption of our sister company WABi System by forging strong relationships with builders and ensuring that they are equipped to install the system effectively in their projects.
Fabian is Eco Structures Metal Fabricator. Fabian can be found in our yard constructing new prototypes, working on our insulated panel machine or traveling to many of our sites to ensure that installation processes are carried out to the satisfaction of Eco Structures and most importantly the clients expectations.
Tiago is a proficient Solid Works, drafter and has extensive experience in creating detailed and accurate 3D models for manufacturing. Apolo uses cutting-edge design software and collaborates with architects, engineers, and contractors to produce blueprints, schematics, and plans that meet project specifications and codes.
